Former Formula 1 world champion Nigel Mansell believes that Lewis Hamilton has regained his momentum this season. Hamilton recently ended his 16-month drought without a podium finish, coming in third at the Chinese Grand Prix.
This achievement marks his first rostrum finish since joining Ferrari in 2025. Hamilton has also been consistently closer to his teammate Charles Leclerc in terms of pace, a notable improvement from last year. The new regulations seem to favor Hamilton's driving style, and Mansell thinks the seven-time world champion could potentially win a race this season.
Hamilton attributes his return to form to better preparation, stating that he has prepared his mind and body more effectively than ever before. When he joined Ferrari last year, Hamilton had limited input in the car's development, which made it challenging for him to adapt.
However, with the new car this year, Hamilton has had more involvement in its development, and the results are evident. Mansell, who was involved in several intense title battles during his career, including those against Nelson Piquet, believes that this year's F1 Drivers' Championship could become a two-horse race between Mercedes drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. To succeed, Mansell advises Russell to utilize his experience and maintain incredible focus throughout the season.
