Matt Fitzpatrick has taken the top spot on the leaderboard after the second round of the RBC Heritage, finishing with a one-stroke lead after shooting an impressive eight-under-par 63. The English golfer had a flawless round, making eight birdies, including a notable 36-foot putt on the 15th hole at Hilton Head.
Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, started the day in a six-way tie for third place after an opening round of 65. He now leads the tournament at the halfway point with a score of 14 under par. Norway's Viktor Hovland is in second place, just one stroke behind, after scoring 65 in the second round.
Overnight leader Ludvig Aberg slipped to joint-fourth position after making three bogeys on the back nine. Meanwhile, Scotland's Robert MacIntyre trails Fitzpatrick by six shots after posting a 68, and world number one Scottie Scheffler is seven shots off the pace after carding a 67.
