Fitzpatrick Edges Scheffler in Thrilling PGA Tour Play-off

Matt Fitzpatrick clinched his second PGA Tour victory of the season after a nail-biting play-off against world number one Scottie Scheffler at the RBC Heritage. Fitzpatrick, who began the final day with a three-shot lead, seemed to be in control after extending his advantage with two birdies in his first three holes at Harbour Town Golf Links. However, Scheffler fought back with consecutive birdies to force a play-off after Fitzpatrick bogeyed the final hole. Fitzpatrick ultimately emerged victorious, rolling in a birdie on the first extra hole to claim his second RBC Heritage title in four years. The win propelled Fitzpatrick to a career-high world ranking of third and made him the fourth Englishman to achieve multiple PGA Tour wins in a single season. Fitzpatrick got off to a strong start, knowing Scheffler would likely make a push on the final stretch. Despite a late wobble, Fitzpatrick managed to hang on and secure the win. Scheffler's runner-up finish marked his second in as many weeks, following his close call at The Masters. Fitzpatrick will now partner his brother Alex at the upcoming Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a two-man team event.
