Sinner Achieves 20th Consecutive Masters 1000 Victory, Alcaraz Advances to Semifinals

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has added another impressive feat to his resume, securing his 20th successive Masters 1000 win with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Felix Auger-Aliassime. This achievement places him alongside tennis legends Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal. Sinner bounced back from a recent setback, where his 37-set winning streak was broken by Tomas Machac in the fourth round, to defeat the Canadian in straight sets and confirm his semifinal spot. He continues to push for reclaiming the world No. 1 position, currently held by Carlos Alcaraz since November last year. Sinner expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating, "I feel like it was a step forward today. It was a very tough match. I knew I had to improve in certain areas. Although my serve is not yet where I want it to be, I'm very happy overall." He will face Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, following the German's hard-fought victory over Brazil's Joao Fonseca with a score of 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3. Meanwhile, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz eased into the semifinals with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 win over Alexander Bublik, dropping just three games. This victory marks a significant comeback for Alcaraz after an early exit in Miami at the hands of Sebastian Korda. Alcaraz reflected on his performance, saying, "I started the match well, had opportunities to take a two-break lead, but lost my rhythm momentarily. I had to adapt, defend, and then regained my confidence. I played aggressively and had a solid match against an unpredictable opponent. I'm happy to advance to the semifinals." Alcaraz is set to play against hometown favorite Valentin Vacherot, who made history as the first Monegasque player to reach the semifinals at Monte Carlo. Vacherot saved 13 break points to defeat Alex de Minaur 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in front of a lively home crowd. Vacherot expressed his excitement, stating, "It's an honor to be in the semifinals with the best players of the past few years. I'm eager to play Carlos in my hometown; it's amazing. The crowd's support means a lot, as they're my friends from childhood. I feel lucky to have a tournament in my club." Vacherot is expected to break into the top 20 in the ATP rankings on Monday. Alcaraz praised Vacherot's rise, acknowledging his impressive performance.
