David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

According to reports, Australian cricket legend David Warner has been charged with drink driving in Sydney. On Sunday night, a 39-year-old man, later identified as Warner, was stopped by New South Wales police in Maroubra, Sydney, during a random breath test. The initial test yielded a positive result, which was confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement from the New South Wales Police revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command conducted stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked, prompting officers to approach the vehicle and administer a roadside test, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to face charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offense. This development comes as Warner is set to captain the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, with the final taking place on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to play on the franchise circuit. His participation in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday remains uncertain.
