Dobey Claims Second Title of 2026 as Humphries' Struggles Persist

Luke Humphries' recent slump continued with a disappointing exit in the last 16 at the Players Championship 9 in Wigan, where Chris Dobey dominated the competition to secure his second title of the year. Following a quarter-final loss to Jonny Clayton just four days prior, Humphries was unable to regain his footing, falling 6-4 to Andrew Gilding. Notably, 22-year-old Beau Greaves made history by becoming the first woman to reach a ProTour quarter-final, beating Raymond van Barneveld and Premier League leader Clayton before being defeated 6-3 by Gilding. Gilding's own run ended with a 7-1 semi-final loss to Dobey, who went on to crush Justin Hood 8-4 in the final, claiming the £15,000 prize. Despite initially trailing, Dobey rallied to win six of the next seven legs, ultimately averaging 105.28 to Hood's 102.91. "My goal now is to translate this form into TV appearances and European Tour titles. Consistency is key," Dobey stated. The event also saw Thomas Lovely achieve a nine-darter in his round three loss to Luke Woodhouse. The Premier League Darts schedule continues every Thursday until May, available to stream on Sky Sports and NOW.
