The aircraft skimmed within roughly 100 metres of the roof of the DHL Stadium, prompting a wave of safety concerns among spectators, aviation experts and the broader public. In response, the regulator has secured the flight data recorders from both aircraft and has asked Airlink for further technical details to support a thorough assessment of the event. According to the SACAA, a comprehensive report containing findings and recommendations will be published once the review is concluded.

In a statement the agency emphasised the importance of scrutinising the weekend's manoeuvre: "It is therefore critical that we interrogate this past weekend's events … to determine if there were any safety concerns which warrant a review." The regulator’s mandate includes ensuring that all aviation activities within South Africa meet stringent safety and security standards, and it treats any deviation from normal operating procedures with the utmost seriousness.
