Following a consistent first half of the 2026 Formula 1 season, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has outlined the key areas where the Italian squad needs to improve in order to support Lewis Hamilton's title bid. With Hamilton sitting 50 points behind Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli, Vasseur acknowledges that while the gap is not insurmountable, Ferrari must find further performance gains to maintain their challenge.
The team also remains in contention for the constructors' title, trailing Mercedes by 72 points. Vasseur highlighted the need for improvement in execution, particularly after a series of errors in Hungary, and emphasized the importance of continuing to develop the chassis and engine. He noted that while the team has made progress, there is still room for improvement, especially in terms of engine power. With 12 races remaining, Vasseur stressed the need to maintain the team's development pace, citing the example of McLaren's approach to bringing significant upgrades.
The Formula 1 season resumes after the summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix from August 21-23.
