In a dramatic turn of events, Jos Verstappen, the 54-year-old father of Formula One driver Max Verstappen, was involved in a rally car accident in Belgium but fortunately emerged unharmed. The incident occurred during the Loyers special stage of the Rallye de Wallonie, where Verstappen lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a tree.
This led to his retirement from the rally. Prior to the crash, Verstappen, the current national rally champion, was in third place. The accident was severe enough to cause significant damage to the car, as seen in images shared on social media by the Rallye des Wallonie.
Thankfully, both Verstappen and his co-driver, Jasper Vermeulen, were uninjured in the crash. Notably, Verstappen was competing without his regular co-driver, Renaud Jamoul, who was absent due to an ankle surgery.
