Oxagon has enhanced his claims for the 2000 Guineas with a commanding front-running win in the Betway Craven Stakes. The victory marked a successful return to action for the colt, who had not been seen since finishing last in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster in October. Ridden by Oisin Murphy, Oxagon took control of the race and won by two lengths, with Avicenna finishing second and Hidden Force third. Trainer John Gosden, who won the Craven Stakes for the second year in a row, believes Oxagon has a strong chance in the Guineas and is eager to see him line up in the Classic.
Meanwhile, veteran sprinter Run To Freedom rolled back the years with a surprise victory in the Zyn Abernant Stakes, while Portcullis made a stunning debut with a five-and-a-half-length win in the Betway Wood Ditton Maiden.
