Trainer Evan Williams Sentenced to Three Years in Prison for Assaulting Dog Walker

Evan Williams, a 55-year-old horse trainer, has been sentenced to three years in prison for a violent attack on a 72-year-old dog walker who was on his property. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, at Williams' land in Llancarfan, Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, where the dog walker, Martin Dandridge, suffered serious injuries, including a fractured arm, after being repeatedly struck with a hockey stick. Williams denied the charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent but was found guilty by a unanimous jury after a trial at Cardiff Crown Court. During the sentencing, the judge emphasized that Williams had chosen to confront the dog walker instead of waiting for the police to arrive, and that his actions were unacceptable. The judge also referenced a previous incident where Williams had been threatened by poachers on his land, but stated that this did not justify taking the law into his own hands. Williams, a successful trainer with multiple Grade One wins, including at the Cheltenham Festival, will now serve a three-year prison sentence.
