David Warner Faces Drunk Driving Charges in Sydney

According to reports, renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been accused of driving while intoxicated in Sydney. On Sunday evening, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, which resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old individual. The initial test yielded a positive result, and a subsequent test at the police station also confirmed the presence of alcohol. A police statement revealed that at approximately 5:30 pm, officers were performing stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked. The driver, a 39-year-old man, underwent roadside testing, which returned a positive result. He was then taken into custody and transported to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly showed a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges related to a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense. Notably, Warner had retired from international cricket in 2024 but continues to participate in franchise cricket, currently serving as the captain of Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. His participation in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday remains uncertain.
