Enzo Fernandez and Agent Issue Apology to Chelsea Over Recent Comments

Enzo Fernandez and his representative have offered apologies to Chelsea for remarks made during his time with the Argentina national team. Fernandez expressed his fondness for Madrid, sparking speculation about a potential move to Real Madrid in the summer. Although no discussions have taken place regarding his sale, Fernandez has a contract with Chelsea until 2032. As a consequence of his comments, Chelsea's head coach, Liam Rosenior, announced that Fernandez would be excluded from the squad for two matches. Real Madrid is expected to sign a midfielder in the summer, with Fernandez being one of their targets, valued at over £100m. However, Chelsea has no intention of selling him. Fernandez is among the players seeking improved contract terms with Chelsea, but his recent comments may have hindered his cause. He has been consistently linked with a summer transfer to Real Madrid, and after Chelsea's heavy Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, he cast doubt over his future at the club. During an interview, Fernandez stated that he liked Madrid, comparing it to Buenos Aires, and admitted he would consider living there. Rosenior addressed the situation, stating that 'a line was crossed' in terms of the team's culture, resulting in Fernandez's temporary exclusion. The midfielder's agent, Javier Pastore, deemed the decision 'completely unfair,' arguing that Fernandez never mentioned leaving Chelsea or expressing a desire to join another club. Pastore revealed that contract renewal discussions had stalled, with the player's current contract set to expire in 2032. He believes Fernandez deserves a better deal, given his capabilities, and plans to revisit negotiations after the World Cup. Rosenior has since downplayed the situation, stating that he and Fernandez are on good terms, and the team will focus on having a strong finish to the season.
