David Warner Faces Drink Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has allegedly been charged with drunk driving in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday evening, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, which resulted in a 39-year-old man being pulled over. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, and a subsequent test at the police station also returned a positive outcome. A statement released by the New South Wales Police stated that at approximately 5:30 pm, officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road, Maroubra. A van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked, prompting officers to approach the vehicle and administer roadside testing to the driver, a 39-year-old man, which returned a positive result. He was then arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly revealed a reading of 0.104. Warner is set to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol offense, just days before the PSL final on May 3 in Lahore. Having retired from international cricket in 2024, Warner continues to participate in franchise cricket, currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Although he was initially granted time at home over Easter, it is uncertain whether he will participate in the upcoming game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.
