As part of his reinstatement, Koepka agreed to make a substantial charitable donation of $5 million. Watson's criticism stems from his belief that players who left for LIV Golf should have faced a lifetime ban from the PGA Tour, citing the need to protect sponsors and maintain the integrity of the tour. The decision to allow these players to return has sparked controversy, with Watson suggesting that they should have been required to play on the Korn Ferry Tour for a year to regain their eligibility for the PGA Tour.
