Wakefield Soars to Fourth in Super League with Convincing Win Over Castleford

Wakefield has surged to fourth place in the Betfred Super League, overtaking St Helens, after a resounding 34-0 victory over West Yorkshire rivals Castleford, fueled by Jake Trueman and Oliver Pratt's two tries each. In the early stages, Trueman's powerful tackle on Tom Weaver thwarted Castleford's scoring opportunity, and shortly after, he successfully crossed the line at the other end, scoring the first try for Wakefield. A potential Castleford score by Jason Qareqare was disallowed due to his foot being out of bounds, while Wakefield extended their lead when Corey Hall scored in the corner in the 20th minute. Trueman intercepted another pass, denying Sam Hall a try, before Tyson Smoothy collected a pass from Tray Lolesio, who had just entered the game, to score and give Wakefield a 16-0 lead at halftime. Although Smoothy was denied a second try due to a knock-on, Wakefield continued to dominate, with Max Jowitt scoring a penalty and then setting up Pratt for an impressive finish in the corner in the 56th minute. Wakefield's Cam Scott scored his first try of the game after some swift teamwork, and soon after, Pratt added his second, putting Wakefield 30-0 ahead. Pratt then assisted Trueman in scoring the final try in the 76th minute, capping off Wakefield's fifth consecutive win in all competitions and solidifying their position in the standings. With this victory, Wakefield is now level on points with league leaders Warrington, as well as Leeds, Wigan, and Saints, while Castleford drops to the bottom of the standings due to the significant loss.
