Cameron Norrie's impressive run has come to an end in Montreal, where he was defeated by Arthur Fils in the last 16 of the National Bank Open. The French seed dominated the first set, winning 6-2, and although Norrie fought back in the second set, Fils ultimately emerged victorious in a tie-break, 10-8. Norrie had previously defeated third seed Alex de Minaur in a thrilling match, coming back from match point down to win.

However, he was unable to build on this momentum against Fils. Meanwhile, in Toronto, world number one Aryna Sabalenka suffered a surprise loss to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the fourth round of the Canadian Open.

Despite recovering from a set down, Sabalenka was unable to overcome Alexandrova's aggressive play, ultimately losing 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. Alexandrova will now face Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals, while Fils will meet Rafael Jodar in the next round.
