Charley Hull and Lottie Woad are likely to view the AIG Women's Open as a missed opportunity to secure their maiden major win, according to four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies. While Woad started the day at three under, she struggled with her first over-par round of the week. Meanwhile, Hull was unable to capitalize on a strong start, as two double-bogeys hindered her chances. Davies noted that both Hull and Woad will see this as a missed opportunity, given that a score of five under was enough to win the tournament.
Hull's inconsistent performance, including 17 birdies and 12 bogeys, ultimately cost her a place in the play-off. In contrast, Kuwaki claimed the Women's Open title, edging out Henseleit. Despite the disappointment, Woad can take positives from her fifth top-10 finish, which will see her make her debut at the Solheim Cup next month. According to Andrew Cotter, Woad's inability to make enough putts was a significant factor in her failure to secure a major win, but her quality and potential for future success are undeniable.
