World-class sprinter Usain Bolt has offered words of wisdom to Australia's rising star Gout Gout, urging him to remain dedicated to his athletic pursuits despite the distractions that come with fame. Gout, who has drawn comparisons to the legendary Jamaican sprinter, is being touted as a potential gold medal winner at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. The young athlete recently secured victories in the 200 meters at the Australian Athletics Championships with a time of 19.67 seconds, and in the Under-20 100m event, finishing in 10.21 seconds.
As the world record holder in the 200m and 100m sprint events, with times of 19.19 seconds and 9.58 seconds respectively, Bolt cautioned Gout about the potential pitfalls of fame during an interview with CNN. "At a young age, you're often pulled in different directions, which can cause you to lose focus on your sport," Bolt noted. "It's essential for him to have the right support system to keep him grounded and focused on his athletic career, as the other aspects of fame will always be present. However, if he falters in his sport, everything else will disappear." Gout is slated to make his Diamond League debut in the 200m event in Oslo on June 10, competing against reigning Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana.
He has opted to skip the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer to concentrate on the World Under-20 Championships in Oregon, scheduled for August.
