Andoni Iraola Set to Depart Bournemouth as Club Shortlists Three Potential Replacements

Bournemouth's head coach Andoni Iraola has announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season. According to Sky Sports News, former RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund manager Marco Rose is among the three candidates shortlisted to succeed Iraola. Iraola's contract is set to expire in three months, and despite numerous offers to extend his stay, he has chosen to depart. The coach has turned down offers from his former club Athletic Club and other Premier League teams. With six games remaining, Iraola will see out his tenure, which has been a record-breaking three years on the south coast. "The time has come for me to move on," Iraola stated on the club's website. His final home game will be against Manchester City on May 17, followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest on the last day of the Premier League season. Bournemouth had attempted to persuade Iraola to stay, but they respect his decision. The search for a new head coach has been ongoing, with three favored candidates on the shortlist. Bournemouth, currently 11th in the league, still has a chance to qualify for Europe. Iraola has been a popular figure since his appointment in June 2023, implementing an attacking style of football. The club finished ninth in the Premier League last season, achieving a club-record 56 points. Iraola has had to cope with significant player sales this season, including Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Illia Zabarnyi, totaling £253m. As one of the Premier League's most sought-after coaching prospects, Iraola's next destination is uncertain. Athletic Club is interested in bringing him back to the Basque Country, while other clubs, such as Crystal Palace and Tottenham, have also been linked to him. Manchester United and Newcastle are also reportedly considering their coaching options, with Iraola being mentioned as a potential candidate.
