Kap Vert Secures Scottish National Gold for Hobbs and White

The prestigious Scottish National Hunt prize was claimed by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, as Kap Vert dominated the Coral Scottish Grand National, surpassing Git Maker and Kim Roque. In only his fifth outing over fences, the six-year-old consistently demonstrated strength under the guidance of Sean Houlihan. Although inexperienced, Kap Vert's jumping withstood scrutiny, unlike Midlands National winner Isaac Des Obeaux, who lost momentum after a mistake early in the home straight and finished fourth. A significant error by Git Maker nearly a mile from the finish led to a remarkable recovery, as the horse almost lost its rider, Jonathan Burke, but still managed to secure second place, just a length and a half behind the winner, and edged out the 4-1 favorite Kim Roque. This victory was a substantial consolation for Hobbs and White, who had earlier finished second in the Scottish Champion Hurdle with Captain Hugo, and took home the £112,000 first prize.
