Atang: I Must Live Up to Moses Itauma's Achievements

As a highly touted heavyweight prospect, Leo Atang is under pressure to perform. At 19 years old and with a 100 percent knockout ratio in his first five professional fights, Atang is a promising talent. However, he is keen to point out that his progression will not mirror Itauma's. Atang said, 'I'm not trying to be the next anyone, I'm going to be myself. Everyone has their own journey, and I'm focused on my own development.' He intends to plot his own course to the top of the heavyweight division, which may eventually involve a bout with Itauma. Atang believes that a fight between them will happen in due time, saying, 'Of course, it'll happen, but when the time's right. There's no rush for either of us. We can wait, build our names, and when the time's right, it'll be a massive fight.' Atang feels that he has faced more pressure due to Itauma's success, stating, 'I've had it tougher because he was the first to do it, so everyone praises him. I've got to live up to what he's done, and that's a pressure that's been forced upon me from outside.' Despite this pressure, Atang remains focused on his goal of becoming a world champion. 'The world title's the goal for me, that's the plan,' he said. 'I know I'm on the right path, and I'm at the right pace. When it's time to let me off the leash, that's up to the team to decide.'
