The English golfer had a remarkable bogey-free round, sinking eight birdies including a notable 36-foot putt on the 15th hole at Hilton Head. Following an initial round of 65, Fitzpatrick began the day in a six-way tie for third but now leads the pack with a 14-under-par score. Norway's Viktor Hovland trails closely behind, retaining his second-place position with a score of 65.
Meanwhile, overnight leader Ludvig Aberg slipped to a joint-fourth position after encountering three bogeys on the back nine. Scotland's Robert MacIntyre is six strokes behind Fitzpatrick with a score of 68, and world number one Scottie Scheffler is seven strokes off the lead after carding a 67.
