Veteran England lock Joe Launchbury has confirmed that he will be hanging up his boots at the end of the current season. With 70 international caps under his belt, Launchbury has had a storied career, claiming three Six Nations titles and participating in two Rugby World Cups, in 2015 and 2019. Following a stint with Wasps, Launchbury joined Quins from Japan's Toyota Verblitz in 2023, making 50 appearances, although he has been limited to just six outings this term. In a statement on Harlequins' website, Launchbury expressed his gratitude, saying, "The time feels right to step away from rugby at the end of this season.
It's been a privilege to wear the England shirt 70 times and to have represented teams like Wasps, Harlequins, and Toyota Verblitz in Japan. "I'm thankful to my teammates, past and present, for the friendships we've built, which go far beyond our time on the pitch. Every challenge was worthwhile because of the people I was lucky to call teammates.
