Mainoo Nears New Manchester United Deal

Manchester United's caretaker manager Michael Carrick has stated that the club is nearing a new deal with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The 20-year-old's current contract, signed in 2023, is set to expire in 2027, but the club is keen to offer him a new agreement that reflects his growth and current status within the team. According to Carrick, the negotiations are progressing positively, with the proposed five-year deal set to run until 2031. This development marks a significant turnaround for Mainoo, who was previously not part of the plans under former head coach Ruben Amorim. Since Carrick took over, Mainoo has become a regular feature in the team, playing in each of the last ten Premier League matches. His improved fortunes have also earned him a spot in Thomas Tuchel's England squad, where he featured in games against Uruguay and Japan. Carrick's own future at the club remains uncertain, but he appears to be making a strong case for the permanent manager position, having led the team to seven wins in ten games and lifting them to third in the Premier League.
