The 38-year-old Serbian player, a three-time champion at the Madrid Open, announced his decision on social media, citing his ongoing recovery as the reason for his absence. Other players who have withdrawn from the tournament include Taylor Fritz, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, and Britain's Jacob Fearnley. The draw for the Madrid Open is set to take place on Monday. Djokovic will now focus on his recovery in preparation for the French Open, where he will be seeking a record 25th Grand Slam title. Britain's Jack Draper is also racing against time to be fit for the event after retiring from his first match in Barcelona with a knee injury.
