Rangers Stage Thrilling Comeback to Keep Pressure on Hearts

In a remarkable turn of events, Rangers overcame a 2-0 deficit to secure a decisive victory at Falkirk, firmly maintaining their position in the Scottish Premiership title race with just five games remaining. Following wins by Hearts and Celtic on Saturday, Rangers began the day in third place, and their situation seemed bleak after Ben Broggio and Finn Yeats gave the Bairns an early 2-0 lead. However, Tochi Chukwuani's goal before halftime sparked a Rangers resurgence, and a blistering start to the second half saw them take a 3-2 lead courtesy of Youssef Chermiti and Nico Raskin's goals. Rangers continued to dominate, with Bojan Miovski adding a fourth goal, only for Falkirk's Calvin Miller to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot after James Tavernier fouled Filip Lissah. Undeterred, Danny Röhl's side demonstrated their title credentials as Miovski and Chermiti each scored again, putting the game out of Falkirk's reach. This victory propelled Rangers back into second place, just a point behind leaders Hearts, with Celtic trailing by a further two points. The only previous instance this season where the top three Premiership teams all won on the same weekend was a record Rangers were eager to maintain. Chukwuani's contentious finish just before halftime ignited the incredible comeback, as the home team appeared to pause in anticipation of a goal kick after Raskin's cross sailed over the goalmouth. The introduction of Bojan Miovski for Mikey Moore at the break proved to be a pivotal substitution by Röhl, as Gassama was relocated to the left and won the ball on the edge of the Falkirk box. Gassama's low cross was then flicked home by Chermiti, who soon squandered a decent chance to put his team in front. Rangers posed a significantly greater threat and took the lead in the 52nd minute when Raskin received Aasgaard's pass and hit it first-time into the far corner. Chermiti missed another chance before Raskin set up Miovski to bundle home with a cross from the left. Falkirk were given a lifeline in the 70th minute when Miller netted from the spot after Tavernier brought down Filip Lissah. However, Raskin was instrumental again as Rangers restored their two-goal cushion, bursting forward before Chermiti netted after Gassama's shot was blocked. The Belgian midfielder was eventually booked for a clash with Dylan Tait, having earlier avoided yellow cards for a clear pull and embracing Rangers fans after his goal. Miovski sealed the victory two minutes from time, converting Oliver Antman's low cross from close range. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Rangers head coach Danny Röhl stated: "Our start was not ideal, and we struggled in the first 10-15 minutes with the pitch. "However, the reaction was outstanding. We focused on our task and the spirit is great. "It's much easier to head into this short break with a win, but the connection between our supporters and the team is fantastic. "We are one team now, and this is great. "Looking back, four or five months ago I was in a similar situation here in Falkirk, and today's result shows the direction the club is heading. "We must continue to believe in what the supporters have told us and work towards our goals."
