Garnacho Reflects on Manchester United Departure: Admits to Past Mistakes

Alejandro Garnacho has spoken candidly about his departure from Manchester United, acknowledging that he made some mistakes during his final six months at the club. Garnacho joined Chelsea in a £40m deal last summer after being left out of Ruben Amorim's first-team squad during pre-season. Following Manchester United's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, Garnacho's brother claimed that he had been 'thrown under the bus' by Amorim. When asked if he regrets the way he left Old Trafford, Garnacho expressed mixed emotions, stating, 'Maybe yes, because I loved that club. They gave me confidence from the start.' Garnacho reminisced about his time at Manchester United, saying, 'From Spain, they brought me to the academy, then to the first team. It was like four or five years, and I received amazing love from everyone.' He admitted that during his last six months at the club, he was not playing as well as he had before and was often benched. Garnacho took responsibility for his actions, saying, 'I was only 20 years old, but in my mind, I had to play every game. In my mind, maybe it is also on me, I started to do some bad things.' Despite this, Garnacho expressed pride in his decision to join Chelsea, saying, 'I am really proud to be here and still in the Premier League at a club like this.' Amorim reflected on Garnacho's departure, stating, 'You can understand and you can see he's a really talented boy, and sometimes things don't work out.' Amorim acknowledged that Garnacho may have wanted a different challenge with different leadership, which he understood. The manager emphasized that it is a natural part of football for players to seek new challenges and that the club tries to make everything work for all parties involved.
