Transgender Women Barred from Competing in Female Darts Tournaments

The Darts Regulation Authority has introduced a new policy stating that only individuals assigned female at birth can participate in women's darts competitions. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the authority's Trans and Gender Diverse Policy, which included expert advice and consideration of recent UK court rulings. As a result, transgender females, including Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a six-time title winner on the women's tour, will no longer be eligible to compete in women's events. However, they can still participate in open tournaments. Van Leuven has strongly criticized the decision, calling it a significant setback for the trans community. The DRA has stated that it aims to be inclusive and will continue to monitor developments in transgender participation in sports, reviewing its Eligibility Policy annually.
