Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year, defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but her momentum was briefly halted by consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, Andreeva regained control, breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game and then again in the following service game to take the set 6-4. The world number ten dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games to secure a 6-4, 6-1 victory after an hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova will join Andreeva in the final, having overcome Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 in her semi-final match. Potapova took an early lead, going 4-1 up, before Vekic staged a comeback, but the former held on to take the first set. Potapova continued to assert her dominance in the second set, building a 4-0 lead, and eventually emerged victorious, claiming her first win over Vekic in their last three encounters. This win marks Potapova's return to the final for the first time since her debut title win three years ago. The upcoming final will be the pair's fourth meeting, with Andreeva having won their last two match-ups, although they have not yet played each other on clay.
