David Warner Faces Drunk Driving Charges in Sydney

Renowned Australian cricketer David Warner has been accused of drink driving in Sydney, according to reports. On Sunday night, New South Wales police conducted a random breath test in Maroubra, Sydney, and pulled over a 39-year-old individual. The initial breath test yielded a positive result, which was later confirmed by a second test at the police station. A statement from the New South Wales Police revealed that the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 pm on April 5, when a van allegedly stopped short of the testing site and parked on Malabar Road, Maroubra. Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and administered roadside testing, which returned a positive result. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test allegedly returned a reading of 0.104. Warner is scheduled to appear in court on May 7 to address charges of a 'middle-range' prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offense. This development comes as the final of the PSL is set to take place on May 3 in Lahore. Although Warner retired from international cricket in 2024, he continues to participate in franchise cricket and is currently captaining the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. It was initially reported that he would be rejoining his team ahead of their game against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday, following a brief period at home over Easter, but it remains uncertain whether he will participate in the upcoming fixture.
