Gary Player Offers Support to Tiger Woods but Urges Caution

Golf legends Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus have expressed their support for Tiger Woods, who is currently absent from the Masters due to health concerns. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has been dealing with the aftermath of a recent car accident and is seeking treatment. Player, while sympathizing with Woods' chronic pain, advised him to refrain from driving, citing the risks associated with operating a vehicle while taking medication. Instead, Player suggested that Woods consider hiring a chauffeur, as he himself has done despite still having sharp reflexes. Nicklaus also offered words of encouragement, stating that golf needs Woods and would love to have him back. Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed that the organization supports Woods' decision to prioritize his health and well-being, and wishes him the best in his recovery. Woods has only participated in 11 official tournaments since November 2020, with his most recent appearance being at The Open in July 2024.
