Prograis Warns Benn's Risky Strategy Will Ultimately Backfire

Regis Prograis believes Conor Benn's bold move will not pay off when they face off this weekend. Benn is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he achieved middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive fight at the venue. Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, is moving up to 150lbs to fight Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit. "Although they've set the terms in his favor, I'm confident I can win," Prograis stated. "I've spent my entire career fighting at 140lbs, so this is a significant jump. I proposed a weight stipulation for the next day, but they declined. I didn't let that deter me, as I'm eager to make this fight happen." Prograis remains optimistic about his chances and has revealed that there is no rematch clause in place after his fight with Benn. "We don't have a rematch clause, but if the fans want to see it again, I'm open to it," the American said. "Initially, I had planned to move up to 147lbs, but they contacted me on six weeks' notice. Fortunately, I was already training, so it worked out. They're taking a risk by facing me, given my current level of preparation." Prograis doesn't consider Benn to be in his league, stating, "I don't think so. I know I'm better. I think he's an average fighter, neither exceptionally good nor bad." He highlighted their differing accomplishments, saying, "My achievements far surpass his. I've been the world's No. 1 twice and a two-time champion; he has not accomplished that." Prograis aims to use a win over Benn as a stepping stone to another world title opportunity. "A victory will open up numerous doors for me," he said. "I'm aware that after this fight, something significant will arise. My goal is to become a three-time champion."
