Chelsea Beats Tottenham, Sets Up FA Cup Semi-Final Against Manchester City

Defending Women's FA Cup champions Chelsea have secured a semi-final spot against Women's Super League leaders Manchester City. The Blues earned their place in the last four by defeating Tottenham 2-1 at Kingsmeadow. Manchester City then sealed their own semi-final berth with a narrow 1-0 victory over Birmingham, courtesy of Khadija Shaw's goal. The other semi-final match will feature Liverpool hosting Brighton, following their respective quarter-final wins on Sunday. The semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of May 9/10, with the final taking place on May 31. Chelsea's victory over Tottenham was sealed by Veerle Buurman's impressive late strike, which came in the 86th minute. Earlier, Eveliina Summanen's cross had leveled the score for the visitors in the second half, after Sam Kerr's header put Chelsea ahead before the break. Manchester City's win over Birmingham was thanks to Shaw's early goal, which came after just eight minutes. Despite a brave effort from the second-tier side, City came closest to scoring again when Yui Hasegawa's shot was turned against the bar by goalkeeper Lucy Thomas.
