Andreeva Secures Spot in Linz Final Against Potapova

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in her second WTA Tour final of the year after overcoming Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-4, 6-1 in the Linz Open semi-finals. Andreeva, the top seed, made a strong start by breaking Ruse's serve in the opening game, but her momentum was halted by consecutive breaks on her own serve. However, she regained control by breaking Ruse to love in the eighth game, and after leveling the score at 4-4, Andreeva broke again to claim the set 6-4. The world number ten then dominated the second set, breaking Ruse in the fourth and sixth games, before serving out a 6-4, 6-1 victory in one hour and 27 minutes. Anastasia Potapova, meanwhile, has reached her first final since winning the title on her debut three years ago, after defeating Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2. Potapova took an early 4-1 lead, but Vekic fought back, only for Potapova to hold on and take the first set. The Russian then continued her strong form in the second set, building a 4-0 lead before securing her first win over Vekic in their last three meetings. This win makes Potapova the first player representing Russia to reach the tournament's final since its inception in 1991. The pair will meet for the fourth time, with 18-year-old Andreeva having won their last two encounters, although they have yet to face each other on clay.
