Sandy Scott’s extraordinary ascent continued on Sunday, as the 28‑year‑old Scot, who has fought back from a potentially career‑ending wrist injury, secured his second consecutive Korn Ferry Tour triumph at the Compliance Solutions Championship. The victory, achieved after a dramatic four‑hole playoff against William Sides at The Patriot Golf Club, propelled Scott to the summit of the tour’s points standings as the season heads toward the Korn Ferry Tour Championship next week. Only two weeks earlier, Scott captured his inaugural win on the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, a performance that earned him a PGA Tour card for the 2027 season. The back‑to‑back victories have now lifted him into the world’s top 100 golfers, moving him up to 87th place in the Official World Golf Ranking after his Oklahoma triumph.

Seven years ago, the former Walker Cup representative was on the cusp of turning professional when a severe wrist injury threatened to end his competitive career. He tore the ligaments in his right wrist, requiring two surgeries in 2019 and a lengthy rehabilitation that kept him off the course for roughly two years. "I have always had the belief that I can do it," Scott reflected.

"That belief is why we all tee it up – it’s the foundation of where we see ourselves going." Following his recovery, Scott spent two arduous years competing on PGA Tour Latinoamérica and PGA Tour Americas, gradually building his game and confidence. His perseverance paid off when he finished eighth on the PGA Tour Americas Order of Merit in 2024, securing his place on the Korn Ferry Tour. "I’m proud of the fight to get here," he said. "I’m grateful for the support I’ve had, and looking back on those tough times feels pretty rewarding." The wrist injury still flares up from time to time.

Earlier in the 2026 season, Scott missed another two months while managing the lingering discomfort. "I’ve gone through ups and downs, injuries and whatnot," the Texas Tech graduate explained.

"When it first resurfaced in college, it took a couple of surgeries and steroid injections, sidelining me for almost two years. It required a lot of perseverance and help. A few months ago it flared again, but I did the right things – I let it heal and came back feeling good. Now I know what helps and what hurts it, and I’m managing it effectively." Entering the final round of the Compliance Solutions Championship, Scott trailed three strokes behind 54‑hole leader Trent Phillips.

He responded with a blistering six‑under‑par 64, catapulting himself up the leaderboard and forcing a tie with Sides after 72 holes. The playoff stretched to four holes; the first three could not separate the two competitors. On the fourth extra hole, Sides’ approach landed in a greenside bunker, while Scott’s shot found the green and he holed a birdie putt to clinch the win.

"I was pretty delighted when the putt went in," Scott said, noting the relief after a long, demanding day. "I now have two wins and a runner‑up finish in my last three starts, which feels amazing." Looking ahead, Scott aims to finish the 2026 season as the points race leader on the Korn Ferry Tour, hoping a strong performance at the upcoming Korn Ferry Tour Championship will cement his position.

"I came into this week with a blank slate in my mind," he added. "I’m trying to do the same things, play the same golf, commit to the shots. My caddie and I have talked about staying as consistent as possible, and I’ll take that into next week and see where it leads." Beyond the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour’s schedule shifts to Japan for the Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club.
