The tournament, boasting a total prize fund of £450,000, will once again be staged at the AFAS Live arena in Amsterdam and is scheduled for September 17‑20. Defending champion Michael van Gerwen will be looking to retain his crown on home soil after defeating Littler in last year’s final to collect an £80,000 winner's cheque.
Van Gerwen has enjoyed a superb season on the PDC circuit, already capturing the Bahrain Darts Masters in January and the Nordic Darts Masters in June. He also came close to adding a third title earlier in the year, falling 8‑5 to the 19‑year‑old Littler in the inaugural Saudi Arabia Darts Masters final.
Luke Littler, who claimed the World Matchplay title earlier this year, enters the event as the third seed. Gerwyn Price, the 2022 World Champion who was edged out by Littler at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, is seeded second.
The fourth seed is Luke Humphries, fresh from his victory at the US Darts Masters in June. New Zealand’s Jonny Clayton, winner of the New Zealand Darts Masters, and Australia’s James Wade, champion of the Australian Darts Masters, occupy the sixth and seventh seeds respectively. The remaining seeded places are filled by Gian van Veen (fifth seed) and Stephen Bunting (eighth seed). Making his debut at the World Series of Darts Finals is Australian Brody Klinge, who was runner‑up to Wade at the Australian Darts Masters. He joins a field that also includes Nathan Aspinall, Josh Rock and Danny Noppert.
