Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Lindy Duncan have been selected as Angela Stanford’s three captain’s picks for the upcoming Solheim Cup, completing Team USA’s 12‑player roster on Monday. Their inclusion follows a busy weekend on the LPGA circuit, highlighted by the CPKC Women’s Open, where Andrea Lee and Alison Lee secured their spots through the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Joining them are automatic qualifiers Nelly Korda, Angel Yin, Jennifer Kupcho, Yealimi Noh, Auston Kim, Lauren Coughlin and Allisen Corpuz, all of whom earned their places via the Solheim Cup points list.
The competition will be staged at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11‑13, with all three days broadcast live on Sky Sports Golf. Anna Nordqvist had already announced her four captain’s picks earlier in August, so both teams are now set for the trans‑Atlantic showdown. Of Stanford’s selections, Duncan (35) and Kim (26) are the only newcomers to the U.S. squad.
Duncan’s age makes her the second‑oldest debutant in Solheim Cup history since Nancy Scranton, who first played at age 39 in 2000. Stanford told The Golf Channel that the selection process was both “fun” and “tough,” noting that delivering the news to players who missed out is never easy. “We expected the disappointment, but I love the twelve athletes we have,” she said, adding, “We’re ready to head to the Netherlands and represent the red, white and blue.” Veterans Lilia Vu, who has struggled with form this season, and Lexi Thompson, who is expecting her first child early next year, were not chosen. Lucy Li and Jenny Bae also missed out after both missed the cut at the CPKC Women’s Open.
Khang, now 28, brings a wealth of experience, having competed in four Solheim Cups. She was instrumental in the United States’ 2024 victory at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, posting an unbeaten 3‑0‑0 record.
“When Angela called, I was stunned and asked if I should smile,” Khang recalled. “It’s an honor to be selected again – once you play in one you never want to miss another, and I can’t wait to return to Bernardus.” Rose Zhang, 23, also returns after participating in the 2023 and 2024 editions, where she posted a perfect 4‑0‑0 record in 2024.
She has enjoyed a strong LPGA season, with three top‑10 finishes in 14 starts and a tie for eighth at the Standard Portland Classic. Stanford praised her consistency: “Rose has succeeded at every level and always finds a way to win.” Duncan’s rise has been dramatic.
Over the past two years she has logged 14 top‑25 finishes, highlighted by a tie for second at the 2025 Chevron Championship. She reflected on her journey: “A few years ago I was close to walking away from golf. To persevere through those challenges and earn a spot on this team feels like a dream finally realized.” Andrea Lee, set for her third Solheim Cup, secured her place as the highest‑ranked American not already qualified through points. She has represented the United States twice before, posting a 3‑2‑2 record and partnering with Zhang for two decisive foursome victories in 2024.
Alison Lee also returns for her third appearance, having contributed to U.S. victories in 2015 and 2024. The 31‑year‑old, a new mother, holds a 2‑5‑0 record over seven matches and has enjoyed a solid season with three top‑five finishes, including ties for third at the Mizuho Americas Open and the Dow Championship.
World No. 1 Nelly Korda tops the points list, having captured four titles this season, including the Chevron Championship in April and the U.S. Open in June.
Stanford lauded her growth: “I’m proud of Nelly. She’s become calm and confident, carrying the weight of the tour with poise.” Angel Yin and Jennifer Kupcho also make their fourth Solheim Cup appearances, while Yealimi Noh, who finished third at the AIG Women’s Open, ranks fourth on the U.S. points list.
Auston Kim will debut at the event, and Lauren Coughlin and Allisen Corpuz round out the automatically qualified players. The Solheim Cup promises high drama as Team USA seeks to defend its 2024 triumph against a determined European side led by captain Anna Nordqvist, who will also captain Europe in 2026. Fans can watch every match live on Sky Sports Golf from September 11‑13, with streaming options available without a contract. The tournament not only showcases elite golf but also highlights personal stories of perseverance, new motherhood, and the relentless pursuit of excellence on the world stage.
