Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan have reached an agreement on a £30m transfer deal for England defender Djed Spence. The deal includes a 10% sell-on clause, as per the terms of the agreement. Spence, who was granted permission to travel to Italy for a medical, is expected to complete the move after a successful spell with the English national team at the recent World Cup. However, with limited playing opportunities at Spurs due to the presence of Pedro Porro and other defenders, Spence has opted for a move to Inter.
The Italian club had been searching for a new right-wing-back option and turned their attention to Spence after failing to secure a deal for Moussa Diaby. With three years remaining on his contract at Spurs, along with an option for an additional year, Spence is eager to make the move, having previously enjoyed a six-month loan spell with Genoa in Italy.
Spurs initially signed Spence from Middlesbrough in a deal worth up to £20m in July 2022. According to Sky Sports News' Mark McAdam, Spurs fans may have mixed feelings about the transfer, having seen glimpses of Spence's brilliance, including his performance at the World Cup. While the club is set to make a profit, with the transfer fee being more than double the initial amount paid for Spence, some may feel that the player's potential warrants a higher valuation.
