Following a consistent first half of the 2026 Formula 1 season, Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur has identified key areas where the team needs to improve in order to support Lewis Hamilton's bid for a record eighth drivers' title. Hamilton currently trails Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli by 50 points in the standings.
Despite the gap, Ferrari remains in contention for the constructors' title, with Mercedes holding a 72-point lead. Vasseur highlighted the need for improvement in execution, particularly after a series of errors in the Hungarian Grand Prix. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing the team's engine performance, acknowledging that while the chassis is strong, the power unit requires further development.
The team has already made one engine upgrade and is working to bring additional upgrades to the chassis. Vasseur stressed the need to maintain the team's development pace, with 12 races remaining in the season. The Formula 1 season resumes after the summer break with the Dutch Grand Prix from August 21-23.
