Dewi Weber would have loved to participate in the upcoming Solheim Cup in her home country, but unfortunately, she is not eligible to compete for Team Europe. The Bernardus Golf course near Den Bosch will host the tournament from September 11-13, and it will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. Anna Nordqvist will lead Team Europe as they attempt to reclaim the trophy after their loss to Team USA in 2024.
Weber had improved her world ranking to a career-high 82 after finishing tied for third at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, but she was not a member of the Ladies European Tour, which made her ineligible for the team. In an interview with Sky Sports at the AIG Women's Open, Weber said she was aware of her eligibility status after Nordqvist asked her about her LET membership.
Weber then focused on winning one of the remaining qualification events to gain LET membership, but she missed the cut at the Amundi Evian Championship, finished tied-44th at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open, and tied-44th at the AIG Women's Open. The qualification campaign ended after the AIG Women's Open, with the top two players on the LET Solheim Cup points list and the next six available players in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings earning automatic spots.
Three players below Weber in the world rankings received captain's picks, and Weber was not selected. She would have been the third player from the Netherlands to compete in the Solheim Cup, following Christel Boeljon and Anne van Dam.
Weber expressed her enthusiasm for the event and her willingness to be involved in any capacity, saying it would be an amazing experience for the Netherlands and women's golf in general.
