British tennis player Jack Draper has received a wild card entry to the National Bank Open in Montreal, with live coverage starting on Sky Sports from August 3. Draper, along with Canadian players Alexis Galarneau and Liam Draxl, secured one of the final wild cards as he strives to recover from a lingering left arm injury. The former world No 4 has also been granted a wild card for the Cincinnati Open, scheduled to begin on August 13, following the Montreal tournament.
Draper's 2026 season has been marred by injuries, causing him to miss all three Grand Slam events. He enters the National Bank Open after withdrawing from the DC Open in Washington. Currently ranked world No 147 in the ATP rankings, Draper is likely to face qualifying for the US Open in September if he is to participate.
Under the guidance of coach Sir Andy Murray, Draper has only participated in five tour events this year, with his most recent appearance being in Eastbourne last month. Prior to his withdrawal from Washington, Draper reflected on his challenging year, stating, "I've faced an incredibly tough 12 months, with numerous setbacks, problems to solve, and pain to overcome." Despite these challenges, Draper expressed optimism about his physical condition, saying, "I feel much better than I have in the past year, both physically and mentally." Draper initially stepped away from the tour a year ago due to the arm issue and has since managed to participate in only a handful of tournaments, with knee and shoulder problems further complicating his comeback.
Having missed the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon, Draper's chances of participating in the US Open, the final major tournament of 2026, are now uncertain. The ATP and WTA Tours, including the US Open, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and available to stream via NOW and the Sky Sports app from August 30.
