SunRisers Leeds made history by posting a record-breaking 241-2 total in The Hundred, before securing a comfortable victory over London Spirit. The SunRisers' opening duo, Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton, set the tone with a record 148-run partnership for the first wicket from just 65 balls. Harry Brook then joined the fray, smashing 55 runs from a mere 18 deliveries, including a six that propelled SunRisers past the previous highest Hundred total. Brook's explosive innings helped SunRisers surpass the 226-4 total set by Oval Invincibles against Welsh Fire last year.
After Brook's dismissal, Dan Lawrence chipped in with 10 runs from the final three deliveries, as Rickelton narrowly missed out on a century. London Spirit's hopes of a remarkable comeback were quickly dashed when Johnny Bairstow was caught behind by Rickleton off the bowling of Reece Topley with just the second ball of the innings. Spirit captain Liam Livingstone briefly sparked some life into the chase with 34 runs from 13 balls, but his dismissal, along with those of Lhuan-dre Pretorius and James Coles, left Spirit reeling at 56-5 from 26 balls.
Although Matthew Revis, David Willey, and Jamie Overton offered some resistance, the target proved too steep, and Spirit ultimately fell 37 runs short, finishing with 204-6. The win keeps SunRisers' hopes of advancing from the group stage alive, while Spirit's chances of qualifying are all but extinguished.
