Mikey Lewis, a key player for Hull KR, has been banned for four games due to a late tackle and a headbutt that occurred during the team's 34-12 loss to Warrington Wolves on Saturday. Lewis was given a sin-bin for his tackle on Ewan Irwin, and it was also observed that he appeared to have headbutted Adam Holroyd, an incident that went unnoticed by the match officials. On Monday, the Match Review Panel announced that Lewis would receive a one-game ban for the late-contact penalty and an additional three-game ban for the headbutt. This ban comes at a crucial time, as the reigning champions have fallen out of the playoff spots and are currently two points behind St Helens Saints with eight games remaining in the Super League season.
As a result, Lewis will miss several upcoming matches, including the Hull derby and games against Bradford Bulls, Castleford Tigers, and Catalans Dragons.
