Chelsea has finalized the signing of Manchester United forward Melvine Malard in a deal worth £750,000. The French international has agreed to a four-year contract with Chelsea, reuniting her with Sonia Bompastor, with whom she worked at OL Lyonnes and won the Champions League in 2022. Last season, Malard scored six goals in the WSL and four in the Champions League, with only one year remaining on her contract at United. She also garnered interest from two European clubs and two NWSL clubs.

'I'm thrilled because Chelsea aligns with my life and career plans,' Malard stated on Chelsea's official website. 'It's a great club, and I'm excited to start. Having played against Chelsea multiple times, I know they have talented players.

I've known Sonia since I was 14, so it's wonderful to work with her again.' Malard's goal is to improve daily and win trophies, ambitions she shares with Chelsea. She also looks forward to playing at Stamford Bridge, drawn to the incredible atmosphere and the pitch's proximity to the fans.
