The incident happened on Sunday during the Loyers special stage, where Verstappen lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a tree. The crash was reported by the Rallye des Wallonie through their social media channels. Prior to the accident, Verstappen, the current national rally champion, was in third place.
Fortunately, both Verstappen and his co-driver, Jasper Vermeulen, were unharmed in the crash, despite the vehicle sustaining significant damage. Notably, Verstappen was competing without his regular co-driver, Renaud Jamoul, who was absent due to an ankle surgery.
