Welcome to the second edition of my Captain's Corner! This season I will be documenting my experience as the European Solheim Cup captain, taking you from the early preparations right through to the competition itself, which will be staged in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13. The golf calendar is already in full swing, and we have just wrapped up the year’s opening major, The Chevron Championship in Texas. A number of our European ladies delivered impressive performances, setting a positive tone for the weeks ahead.

Early-season shifts in the Rolex Rankings have already begun to materialise, with several players finding strong form. With another quartet of majors looming on the horizon and the points they award carrying even greater weight, it will be fascinating to watch how the team composition evolves as the season progresses. For the best viewing experience, we recommend using the Chrome browser, which provides a more accessible video player. Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at The Chevron Championship for the first tentative fitting of uniforms for both players and caddies. This marks the initial step in finalising the look that will accompany us to the Netherlands. Our partnership with the PING Europe apparel group spans the last three Solheim Cups, making the coordination smooth and efficient.

The team is receptive to feedback and eager to fine‑tune the cuts, fabrics and styles to match our preferences. While the final outfits will remain a surprise until the squads arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a preview of the accessories we have selected, the materials and colour palettes we have chosen, and a few extra surprises that are still under wraps. We are also putting the finishing touches on the official attire for the Gala Dinner, scheduled for Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the clothing we will wear during the Opening Ceremony.

In addition, we are collaborating with a Dutch design firm to create a unique piece that I hope will delight the players. I can already tell a few of the team members, including my vice‑captains Mel and Carro, that we will not be requiring a dress this year, which should bring them some relief.

Behind the scenes, discussions continue with players, caddies and the broader support crew. Zoom has become one of my most frequently used tools for these conversations, allowing us to stay connected despite busy travel schedules. The excitement surrounding this Solheim Cup is palpable.

It is rare for me to speak with anyone without the event being mentioned at least once, which underscores how much anticipation is building across the golf community. Balancing my duties as a touring professional with the responsibilities of captain has been a demanding but rewarding challenge. I am grateful for the strong support network provided by the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA, and my management team, all of whom have helped me navigate this dual role. Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I volunteered for the captaincy.

When I am paired with European teammates during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to watch them work inside the ropes, and I gain a deeper understanding of their personalities and strengths. Stay tuned for the next installment of Captain's Corner, where I will share more updates on team preparations, uniform reveals and the excitement building toward the tournament.
