This season I will be documenting my experience as the European Solheim Cup captain, from the early preparations all the way through to the competition itself, which will be hosted in the Netherlands for the first time from September 7 to 13. The golf calendar is already in full swing and we have just wrapped up the first major of the year, The Chevron Championship in Texas. A large contingent of European players performed admirably, putting our team on a solid footing early in the season.

With three more majors looming on the horizon and the points on offer increasing dramatically, it will be fascinating to watch how the European squad continues to evolve as the weeks progress.

Last week, the PING Europe apparel team joined us at The Chevron Championship for the inaugural fitting session for both players and caddies.

Over the past three Solheim Cups we have collaborated closely with the PING team, and that partnership has streamlined the fitting process considerably. They are receptive to feedback and eager to fine‑tune the garments and accessories to match our preferences. While the final outfits will remain a surprise until the teams arrive in the Netherlands, I was given a sneak peek of the accessories we have selected, the fabrics we have chosen, and the colour palette that will define our look.

In addition to the core uniform, there are a few playful surprises in the pipeline that we hope will delight the participants. We are now finalising the formal attire for the Gala Dinner, which will be held on Wednesday of Solheim Cup week, as well as the clothing for the Opening Ceremony. Both events will showcase a blend of elegance and team spirit, reflecting the prestige of the competition. I can already tell a few of the team members, including my vice‑captains Mel and Carro, are relieved that we have decided not to introduce a dress component this year, keeping the attire practical and comfortable for all. The behind‑the‑scenes work continues with ongoing conversations with players, caddies, and support staff. Zoom has become one of my most frequently used tools, allowing me to stay connected with everyone despite the busy travel schedule. Excitement is palpable across the board.

It seems impossible to have a conversation this year without the Solheim Cup being mentioned at least once. Balancing my own tour commitments with the responsibilities of captaincy has been challenging, but the support from the Ladies European Tour, the LPGA, and my management team has been invaluable in helping me navigate this dual role.

Being on this journey alongside the players is precisely why I agreed to take on the captaincy now. When I am paired with European teammates during practice rounds, I get a front‑row seat to their preparation, their mindset, and the camaraderie that defines our squad.

Those moments inside the ropes give me insight that I can bring back to the broader team strategy.
