Following a challenging Ashes series where he failed to achieve a fifty and averaged merely 20.20, Duckett's off-field behavior also sparked controversy, casting doubt over his spot in the first Test against New Zealand in June.
His initial County Championship match of the season resulted in modest scores of 25 and one against Glamorgan. However, at Trent Bridge, Duckett demonstrated patience to aid the defending champions in responding to Warwickshire's imposing first-innings total of 459 in their Division One encounter.
Haseeb Hameed's prospects of an international recall seem bleak as he continues to struggle, having been dismissed for a 14-ball duck, shortly followed by Ben Slater's departure for 26. Duckett and Joe Clarke then formed a 116-run partnership to steer Notts clear of trouble.
Unfortunately, Duckett gave away his wicket for 62 on the stroke of tea, driving loosely at a looping delivery from Rob Yates and being caught by Chris Woakes at mid-on. Meanwhile, Ollie Pope pressed his claims for a Test recall with an impressive 69 for Surrey against Essex at home. Pope had endured a difficult Ashes series and was dropped after the third Test in Adelaide.
