Shadasia Green underwent treatment for a brain hemorrhage after being stopped by Lani Daniels in their super-middleweight title bout in New York. Green was competing against Daniels, a former heavyweight champion, for the unified IBF and WBO super-middleweight championships at the Madison Square Garden Theater.
The referee intervened at the start of the ninth round, halting the fight due to a flurry of punches from Daniels, and Green was subsequently stretchered out of the ring. In a social media post, Green revealed that she had lost consciousness due to brain bleeding, but is currently recovering in the ICU. Despite her setback, Green expressed her determination to regain her title, stating, 'I'll be back to claim what's mine.' Green had previously won the unified world championship title by defeating Britain's Savannah Marshall, making her a potential opponent for multi-weight undisputed champion Claressa Shields.
Green also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to those who showed concern for her well-being during the fight, as well as her appreciation for the support of her promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, and Most Valuable Promotions. Most Valuable Promotions released a statement saying, 'We are working closely with Shadasia and her family, and would like to extend our thanks to the New York State Athletic Commission, Madison Square Garden, and the hospital for their care and leadership.'
